故事的时代背景：这是发生在二战期间的童年故事。故事的主人公就是罗伯特·李。

在罗伯特14岁的时候，厨师买了一条十几斤的大鱼，准备丰盛的晚餐。罗伯特的姨妈要求厨师把鱼刺、鱼骨头全部剔除干净，以让孩子免去呛到鱼刺的危险。但是，罗伯特的妈妈让厨师不要剔除鱼刺。

为什么妈妈这么安排？因为她知道，母亲不可能一辈子都能永远保护到孩子，要吃鲜美的鱼肉，就必须懂得从鱼肉中挑出鱼刺。博士的母亲只是一位普通的女人，但却拥有非常规的思维，而正是这种非常规的思维，让李家的孩子懂得，在碰到困难时，要设法解决，而不是回避，那样才会有成功的机会。这种非常规的思维，让19岁到美国时连麻萨诸塞州的英语单词" Massachusetts "也不会拼写的少年罗伯特考入了麻省理工学院 (MIT — Massachusetts Institute of Technology )，铸就了一番传奇故事！

以下为完整的原文故事，第一人称的“我”指的是少年罗伯特。

关于“黑命贵”

BLM (Black Lives Matter) 英语原文的意思是黑人的命也是命，也很重要，也是“人命关天”的大事，并没有刻意强调 黑人比白人 更尊贵的意思。一些警察下跪认错，已经足够了。但是佩洛茜等政客们也过度地下跪认错，带有刻意地彰显“黑人比白人更尊贵”的色彩，所以汉语简单地把 BLM 称为 “黑命贵”，虽然不一定完全符合英语原文 Black Lives Matter 的意思，但是把那些政客刻意打造的思潮，描述得非常到位，他们似乎就是在塑造 “黑人的命更尊贵” 的思潮，以便更多地吸引全世界的难民蜂拥涌入美国，以高福利政策，不断地保持“民主党”源源不断的票仓来源。
